After poster count, Annuar thinks Harapan has exceeded spending limit

"Just now, on the way from Kuala Lipis, I counted the number of posters.
"The buntings and billboards put up by (Harapan), I think they have exceeded the spending limit for an election.
"It is obvious (that the campaign is) very lavish," he told reporters in Tanah Rata today.
Under Section 15A of the Election Offences Act 1954, a candidate can only spend up to RM200,000 for an election campaign.
Unlike Harapan, Annuar said, BN is now "poor" and tight on resources.
He added, however, that money is not the most important factor in winning an election – so long as BN continues to make "house-to-house" visits and have "heart-to-heart" talks with the rakyat.
'Money politics'
Annuar also alleged that Harapan has begun practising money politics now that it is in power.
"It looks like money politics is spreading in the government, because when they have money, they spend it, it is normal.
"We, as the opposition, do not have money, so we do not play money politics. Only those who have money will play money politics," he said.
It is possible, Annuar claimed, that DAP wants to win the Cameron Highlands by-election so badly that they have lost control of their machinery to the point of committing election offences.
He noted that BN had done the same when it was in power, but are now determined to leave such practices behind.
"We are going to implement a 'renaissance' or a renewal, and we will not do anything that we deem not in line with the rules or healthy election practices.
"So let the government answer for what they have done."
Several reports have been lodged with the police and the MACC after pictures of a woman in a Harapan T-shirt giving out money went viral.
Harapan has since clarified that the pictures only depicted volunteers being reimbursed for expenses on nomination day.
