The police today recorded a statement from DAP parliamentarian Teresa Kok regarding an alleged police abuse case she had highlighted recently.

When contacted, she said her statement was recorded at the city police headquarters at about 5pm. However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Mustafa Abdullah could not be reached for confirmation.

Last week, at a press conference called by Kok, a single mother had accused the police of mistreating and manhandling her and her two daughters.

'Dressed like prostitutes'

Wan Nurizan Shaikh Mohammad, 48, a secretary with a legal firm, claimed that a policewoman had groped the buttocks of her eldest daughter after being stopped in Jalan Petaling.

The policewoman had also allegedly told the trio that they were dressed like prostitutes and when Wan Nurizan protested, they were arrested.

Among others, Kok said she was quizzed on Wan Nurizan's reaction during the press conference, on why the press conference was called and if she had seen bruise marks on the complainant.

On Sunday, Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief ACP Ramli Din said the police will take action against its personnel if Wan Nurizan's allegations were found to be true.

"We don't want to hide anything to avoid negative perceptions by the public towards the police," he added.
