We'll come up with better ideas than finance minister: MCA Youth

Towards this, newly minted MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong said she would set up a new committee to come out with such recommendations, which in turn will help the people make more money.
"To govern a country, it is important to let people make their fortunes… so, (strengthening) businesses is one of the ways," she said when delivering her speech at MCA Youth's annual general assembly today...

Wong said MCA, whose members largely comprise the middle class and those from the business community, is able to provide constructive views on the country's economy.
"The Malay and Indian communities acknowledge the Chinese community's ability to do business and make money. As a Chinese-based community, we have lots of talent.
"We believe that MCA has the ability to come up with better ideas than Lim. The people can make huge fortunes and (MCA) will again win the support (of the people)," she said.
"Isn't this another way for us to transform the party ?" she asked, adding that the new committee will place particular focus on youth.
Meanwhile, MCA deputy president Dr Mah Hang Soon took the opportunity to lambast DAP veterans Lim Kit Siang and his son, Guan Eng.
'Ingratiating themselves'
Citing issues like the recognition of the UEC examination and the reduction in allocations for the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (Taruc), he said both father and son had sold out on the rights and interests of the Chinese.
"If the new Finance Minister so elected by the majority of the Chinese voters only knows how to wield his weapon against his own race, it would be best for us to stuff him into a dustbin," he said when officiating the MCA Youth assembly.
He slammed Kit Siang for saying May 13 would occur again if the government decline to ratify Icerd.
He added that both Lim and Guan Eng constantly ingratiated themselves with the prime minister and thus compromised the rights of the Chinese community.
He also noted how Bersatu has turned into Umno 2.0 by recruiting Umno's members and former leaders.
He said DAP now appeared to be subservient to Bersatu and the Pakatan Harapan government, adding that it was up to MCA Youth to keep the ruling parties in check.
