The Shah Alam courts complex was evacuated this morning following a bomb threat from someone claiming to be from Bukit Aman.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre chief Alimaddia Bukri told Malaysiakini that they received a call at 9.34am from the court complex director saying there had been a bomb threat.
"Following this, the department dispatched eight firemen from the Shah Alam Fire Station. The firemen at the scene have initiated evacuation procedures and are waiting for the police (to conduct checks)," he said.
In a statement, Shah Alam district police chief Baharudin Mat Taib said police dispatched its Bomb Squad and K9 Unit to conduct sweep at the courts complex before declaring the area safe.
"The district police received an emergency 999 call from the Shah Alam High Court director over a bomb threat received by the court's staff this morning.
"The threat was made by a man who claimed that he is a police officer from Bukit Aman, saying that a bomb was placed at the Shah Alam High Court.
"Following this, police went to the location an ordered for it to be evacuated. The Bomb Squad and K9 Unit conducted checks, but did not find any bomb or threatening objects at the area," the statement read.
Baharudin said the building was declared safe at 12.45pm and all court officials had been allowed to reenter the premises.
Police investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, and are working to identify the person who made the threat.
