PKR POLLS | Chaos broke out at three of the six Selangor PKR divisions that went to polls today, believed to be due to clashes between supporters of deputy presidential contenders Mohamed Azmin Ali and Rafizi Ramli.

Several videos on social media showed scenes of brawling supporters at voting centres for the Puchong and Gombak divisions.

In Puchong, two large group of rival supporters were seen being separated by the main gate of the voting centre at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council multipurpose hall in Seri Kembangan.

Riot police were subsequently deployed on site. It is as yet unclear what triggered the commotion.

In Gombak, KiniTV reports that a brief commotion broke out at the voting centre in Sungai Tua after a party member from the Lembah Pantai division was spotted inside the hall.

The matter was taken outside the hall by rival members.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari arrived on the scene after the commotion was over, but denied that what took place was a "fight".

"No, no, not a fight. Just ordinary shouting... The weather is also quite hot but the situation is under control.

"We hope the police can control the situation better than on previous occasions," Amirudin told reporters.

In Petaling Jaya, Malaysiakini understands that an unconfirmed number of PKR Petaling Jaya Utara members were arrested over alleged claims of phantom voters.

Selangor exco Elizabeth Wong, who won the PJ Utara division chief post uncontested, was earlier seen in a video taken at the voting centre in Bandar Utama this morning.

"Shut up, everybody! Back off, back off. Whoever has a receipt, ID number, please come forward.

"I don't want this election to be declared void," the Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson was heard telling a mob of party members.

"Do not cause a commotion here. This is my area. You outsiders don't cause a scene," she said, in instructing former Selangor PKR Youth secretary Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman to assist "his boys" in sorting out their party ID numbers.

As Syed Badli Shah later told Malaysiakini: "I'm at the police station to assist my boys who were arrested."

It is understood that the members arrested were aligned to Rafizi's camp.

Malaysiakini has contacted the PKR election committee for comments.
