Maids religion not important
Husin Tapa and people like him are sick. I am a non-Muslim but all my children were brought up by kind, gentle, loving Muslim - Indonesian maids who had no hang-ups like Husin. Please stand corrected, most non-Malays who can afford paid, stay-in help, don't bother about their maid's religion as much as Husin does.
What we want for our children is love, care, and happiness. We don't hire maids for religious tuition. We practice "to you your religion, and to me, mine,". Isn't that what the Holy Book says?
I had an Indonesian maid who loved my dogs so much that she would treat them as her own. Another maid would always ask us why the Malays in this country are aping the Arabs. This because she was mistreated in Saudi Arabia when she worked there. Our maids were treated like decent human beings, and they always wanted to come back to our family.
My present maid is reminded to keep her fast during Ramadan by us, and she receives duit Raya and new clothes every Raya. She is not forced to eat what we cook and has a stock of her own food. She is also provided a comfortable room with an attached bath, with hot and cold water, a radio and her own TV set.
We, Husin, do not discriminate based on race or religion, like you. Even if the government allowed hired help from India and Pakistan, I will still stick to my Indonesian maids. If you treat them well, they will treat you well in return.
Don't forget, the Holy Prophet Muhammad said: "No man is a true believer unless he desireth for his brother, that which he desireth for himself".
Peace be upon you.
