Malaysia's leading bank Malayan Banking (Maybank) said Tuesday it will raise its base lending rate to 6.25 percent from 6.0 percent currently.
Maybank said the rate increase would take effect on Wednesday after the central bank last week announced a 30-basis point increase in the overnight policy rate aimed at capping inflation.
Maybank said that in line with the revision, interest rates for deposits would also be revised upwards by up to 0.40 percentage point, effective Wednesday.
Interest rates for one-month fixed deposits would be increased to 3.1 percent, three months to 3.2 percent, six months to 3.3 percent and nine months to 3.4 percent from 3.0 percent previously.
Maybank said that interest rates for 12-month fixed deposits would remain at 3.7 percent.
