Malaysians for Free and Fair Elections (Mafrel) will monitor the Pengkalan Pasir by-election commencing from nomination day on Nov 27 until polling day on Dec 6.

The election team of 16 observers will monitor campaign and polling day activities.

Mafrel chairperson Abd Malek Husin said in a statement that the organisation will also focus to verify the Pengkalan Pasir electoral rolls with a view to track on the possible existence of 'phantom voters' and 'phantom addresses'.

"Mafrel offers to all candidates and political parties in the training of polling agents and counting agents to facilitate efficiency of polling and counting processes and adherence to electoral laws and international standard," he added.
