Transport Minister and MCA deputy president Chan Kong Choy was alleged to have used the government's jets for travel on party matters.

Kamurudin Jaafar (PAS-Tumpat) claimed he had received a report that Chan had made several trips around the country while campaigning for the MCA elections in August.

Debating on the 2006 Budget today, Kamaruddin claimed that MCA president and Housing and Local Government Minister Ong Ka Ting had accompanied Chan on some of the trips.

He said the travel was unrelated to Chan's duties, including matters relating to the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) which operates the jets and which falls under the transport ministry.

"I want to know the purpose of these trips and whether the minister will reimburse the government for use of the jets," he said.

Chan Kon Yeow (DAP-Tanjong), meanwhile alleged that a minister had used the Fire and Rescue Services Department's helicopters while campaigning for the general elections last year.
