(AFP) Dozens of police and soldiers are searching for a family of three Germans missing in Cameron Highlands tourist spot, officials said today.

A police spokesman identified the missing tourists as Peter Negerler, 46, his wife Christien, 42, and their 10-year-old daughter Eliza.

Bernama news agency said the family went missing yesterday after they attempted to climb Mount Berembun, a popular destination in the hill resort region.

A team of 53 personnel comprising police and military were focusing their search on nine routes up the mountain, the report said.

Other family members alerted the police after the three failed to return to their lodge, it said
