Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari is confident the state Pakatan Harapan can arrive at a consensus on the candidate for the Selangor speaker.
"I think we will have a consensus decision. In one or two days, we will make a decision," he told media at the Hari Raya open house held by the state government today.
Amirudin was asked about the post of Selangor speaker, which had been held by DAP since the coalition took over the state in 2008.
It was speculated that DAP has recommended its Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim for the post, but several PKR leaders were said to have opposed the move.
Selangor PKR leaders counterproposed Paya Jaras assemblyperson Khairuddin Othman, who has a legal background.
When asked about the rumours, Amirudin said: "A rumour is still a rumour. It is a half-truth."
On whether there is a requirement that a speaker should have a legal background, he added: "We will consider everything."
Khairuddin only joined PKR in April this year after winning Paya Jaras on a PAS ticket in 2013.
Ng is a four-term assemblyperson, and previously the Selangor Public Account Committee chief.
