PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah has proposed that Umno be dissolved and its members migrate to PAS.

"In my opinion, Umno's era is over. The best solution is to dissolve Umno.

"Join PAS - end of story. Many issues can be resolved. We are open if they want to join PAS," Mohd Amar told journalists at Kelantan PAS Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Kota Bharu last night.

He said this in response to Umno and BN's electoral defeat in the May 9 general election and its efforts to recover from that loss.

Since the defeat, BN, which comprised 13 parties going into the 14th general election, has quickly disintegrated.

All BN component parties in Sabah and Sarawak have quit the coalition, while MyPPP is engaged in a power struggle over an attempt to quit BN.

The once formidable coalition is now left with four parties, namely Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan.

Umno will decide on its new leadership on June 30.

However, Mohd Amar declined to weigh into Umno's leadership elections.

"I don't want to comment (on the Umno polls) as Umno is another party. If I comment, I will be disturbing their affairs," he said.
