Veteran politician and Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang has to move his blog to a new location to escape 'marauding wolves' or what he described as an attack from a US-registered IP address.

Announcing this at a press conference, he said the forced migration effective 11am yesterday had foiled a planned massive attack by a "wolf" on his blog at the previous address.

"The wolf/wolves of New Jersey had been rehearsing for such a massive attack, shooting off six comments with pornographic URLs to my last five postings in the (last) few hours before the migration," he said.

The postings were on hotly-debated issues involving the teaching of Maths and Science in English, two local universities' dismal performance in the world rankings and corruption.

He also blogged the fact that most cabinet ministers were still not using e-mails a decade after the inception of Malaysia's own Silicon Valley project, the Multimedia Super Corridor.

Revealing the IP of the self-styled "wolf" at 68.162.13.33, Lim said it was from the same New Jersey IP which had hosted the previous four attacks on his blog.

He described the attacks as containing "incendiary and inflammatory comments, impostor postings impersonating bona fide commentators to create ill-will and havoc among the bloggers and dispatching pornographic URLs".

"I want to express my appreciation to all the bloggers, regardless of their viewpoints, who have made my blog a modest success. Since going public on National Day 2005, there have been some 400,000 page hits and some 130 postings attracting over 3,000 comments."

In order to afford some form of control and security for the blog and bloggers, he said he has to adopt, against his natural instincts, the Wordpress-powered blog which required first registration.

"(However), it can be no sure-proof protection against those determined to create havoc in the blogosphere."

The DAP stalwart also reiterated that his blog was not a DAP blog but one for all Malaysians regardless of political opinion or affiliation, and race or religion to share their views.

He said those who want to deny others the freedom to express their views are unwelcome to his blog.
