A revised national labour policy will be implemented under the Ninth Malaysia Plan said Deputy Human Resources Minister Abdul Rahman Bakar.
Speaking in Kuala Terengganu yesterday, he said the changes were needed because of rising demand for workers, but low Malaysian interest in jobs in the agriculture and plantation, manufacturing, construction and services sectors.
"One change will require employers to advertise job vacancies for 30 days and if they are unable to get Malaysians within the period with valid reasons, we will allow them to recruit foreign workers," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
