At least five current Penang state executive councillors will be replaced when the new line-up is announced on Wednesday, newly-minted Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (above) said today.

Chow said the new faces will replace among others the positions vacated by former deputy chief minister (I) Rashid Hasnon and state excos Abdul Malik Kassim, Lim Hock Seng and Danny Law Heng Kiang.

While Rashid contested the Batu Pahat seat in Johor and won, Malik, Hock Seng and Law did not contest in the just concluded 14th national polls.

"Since I took over the chief minister's post from Lim Guan Eng, there will also be a replacement for my exco post for local government, traffic management and flood mitigation," Chow said.

"We hope by Wednesday, we will be able to form the new Penang exco line-up," he added.

Earlier, at his first press conference as chief minister at his office on Komtar's 28th floor, Chow outlined his administration's priority for the first 100 days.

This included negotiations with the federal government for the approval and implementation of projects proposed by the Penang government prior to GE14.

"These projects include the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP), flood mitigation projects and affordable housing projects," Chow said.

"We will also ensure that all state departments, agencies and local government bodies begin implementation of their projects which were earlier approved," he said.
