A senior Thai official said late Thursday that differences have been resolved with Malaysia after weeks of public feuding over a group of displaced Thai Muslims, as he returned from a one-day visit.

"From now on there will be no problems in relations between Thailand and Malaysia. There will be no officials giving interviews through the media. All parties understand each other," Deputy Prime Minister Chidchai Vanasathidyahe told reporters upon his return from Kuala Lumpur.

"Both Thailand and Malaysia reaffirmed that ties between their two countries have returned to normal. What happened in the past was caused by misinformation. So both countries have agreed to consistently exchange information," he said.

Najib for Thai visit

Chidchai spent Thursday in Malaysia, where he held meetings with his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak and other top officials.

Chidchai said Razak has agreed to visit Thailand, probably in December.

The meeting failed to break a deadlock over the fate of the more than 130 Thai Muslims. After the talks, Najib said Thailand needed to reassure the group of their safety if they return.
