Johor Pakatan Harapan chief Muhyiddin Yassin has been granted an audience with Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar at Istana Pasir Pelangi in Johor Bahru today.

Muhyiddin is there to discuss with the monarch on who will be Harapan's menteri besar in Johor.

Clad in a pink baju melayu, Muhyiddin was seen entering the palace compound in a black Audi at 11.48am.

Prior to that, Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim's vehicle was also seen entering the palace compound

Malaysiakini learnt that Muhyiddin submitted the name of Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan, Johor Bersatu secretary Osman Saipan and Amanah national deputy president Salahuddin Ayub.

For Bersatu, apart from Osman, the party had proposed Puteri Wangsa assemblyperson Mazlan Bujang and Permas assemblyperson Che Zakaria Mohd Salleh.

Meanwhile, Sultan Ibrahim stated that he would be making his decision following his 90-minute meeting with Muhyiddin, and which was attended by the crown prince.

He also informed that he would be announcing the new menteri besar tomorrow.

"I had a good discussion with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. I am ready to cooperate with the menteri besar and the new state government," he stated on Facebook today.

Time for young blood

Later, Muhyiddin said his meeting with the royal was conducted in a cordial manner.

“The sultan also congratulated me and Johor Harapan. He offered advice to the state leadership to develop Johor as we have many resources...

“The sultan has agreed that menteri besar swearing-in ceremony will be done in Johor Bahru. The preparation is ongoing,”he told a press conference in Kulai.

However, he refused to divulge details on the menteri besar candidate apart from confirming that he is not on the list himself.

“I think it's time to make way for young blood. My time has passed. I can be a mentor.

“However, I suggest forming a Johor economic development council and I am ready to offer my service. I promise to be the bridge between Johor and the federal government.”

When asked about the state executive council line-up, Muhyiddin said the matter would be decided by the new menteri besar.

He also said it was up to the new state government to decide whether to review the controversial Forest City project.

“Well, it's up to the new state government to do (a review). Not only on Forest City, but other development projects in Johor.

If there is a contribution to Johor, we should recognise it. But in certain policy decisions that need to be adhered to, whether (it concerns) federal or state governments, we leave it to the future government to decide. I will not be in it.”

When asked whether the state government would introduce local council elections, Muhyiddin said it would be a federal-level decision.

“Well it has to be decided on the national level. I think it's a local government council that needs to look at it. I would not be able to say whether there would be a need for one or not.”
