Residents of a housing area along that is close to the proposed Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (Duke) at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur want access to the highway's blueprints.

The Duke Highway Action Committee, comprising residents from Jalan Khalsa, Jalan Sungkai, Jalan Tapah and the Sri Anggun and Villa Angsana condominiums held a peaceful protest this morning to express their frustration over the lack of information regarding the 18km highway.

"Much of what we know about the highway is through the grapevine and news reports," lamented one committee member when contacted.

A portion of the proposed highway would rest on top of a land reserve owned by Tenaga National which residents claim is too narrow to allow for sufficient buffer zones between their houses and the project. They fear the highway once completed would endanger their safety and health.

The committee said the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and highway concessionaire Kesturi have not responded to requests to date for the blueprints.
