GE14 | Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad has claimed that his private jet may have been sabotaged, a day before nomination day.
Mahathir said he and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali were supposed to travel to Langkawi from Petaling Jaya's Subang Airport, but were informed the aircraft had malfunctioned.
"It was lucky that we knew earlier or else the aircraft might have taken off and crashed," Mahathir said in his speech after arriving for a Pakatan Harapan high-tea event with the Chinese and Indian communities at the De Baron Resort.
Mahathir said he was forced to loan a separate jet in order to make the trip to Langkawi for the event.
The former premier said he did not rule out the possibility of sabotage.
"I think this was planned by someone. It has never happened before.
"I've done this more than a thousand times and this is the first time something like this happened," he said.
Mahathir, who chairs Harapan and Bersatu, will be contesting in Langkawi in the 14th general election.
The 93-year-old is slated to face BN-Umno’s Nawawi Ahmad and PAS’ Zubir Ahmad.
Mahathir said he had previously warned Harapan leaders that certain parties might employ measures to obstruct opposition candidates from arriving at nomination centres tomorrow in time for nomination day.
“This is so they can win without contest, I had issued a warning about this and it will be done by our enemies.
“But I did not expect to be a victim of this myself.
“Looks like they are going as far as wanting to bring down a plane and cause death. They are so scared that they are willing to kill someone in order to win.
“I believe the rakyat won’t be in favour of a leader that uses such ways to win elections,” he claimed.
Despite his concerns, the former premier said he will not be lodging a police report on the matter, as he believed such a move would prove futile.
“I know there will not be any investigations even though I speak the truth,” he predicted.

Double Six Tragedy of Sabah???
At a time when the the stakes of the wellbeing of our nation are unprecedentedly high, the invaluable self preservation of the esteemed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, becomes a dire necessity and the people’s responsibility. Never in the annals of our nation have the concerns for the personal safety of candidates, particularly that of Dr Mahathir, been so at the forefront than now, when the latter is seemingly commanding an increasing army of keen supporters with his proven leadership charisma and oratorical skills, particularly in his endeavour to bring down Najib Abdul Razak and the Barisan National government in coming general election. Given the circumstance, the discovery of a possible sabotage to the the private jet which Dr Mahathir and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali were to travel in, the unpalatable revelation of the apparent hideous crime inevitably deserves the outrageous condemnations and unconcealed anger of all the unforgiving and punishing citizens. It has apparently become a national disgrace to our society when certain perpetrator/perpetrators within the hierarchy of the ruling Umno/BN would descend to such unbelievable level of human indecency as to snuff our the life of his opponent for sake of prolonging his own political life. Being humans, we earnestly believe in the eternal power of karma - “what goes around, comes around”- and it is earnestly hoped the long arm of destiny and justice will reach out and ensnare those perpetrator/perpetrators who have had defied its ennobled existence and consequently will cause their inevitable downfall in the coming election.
Tun already said "I think this was planned by someone." "I Think"so that it was his negative perception only, no proof at all.
