Arul Kanda: Do not make 1MDB political fodder
GE14 | As the momentum of the 14th general election (GE14) builds up, president and chief executive officer of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) Arul Kanda Kandasamy (above) hopes no party will politicise issues related to the company.
“At the Tun Razak Exchange, international companies like HSBC and Prudential have bought land to build their headquarters. So, we can see that the rationalisation plan is successful.
“When I joined the company, its debts were RM50 billion, and now there is only RM31 billion left. All the debts are long-term, and in keeping with the long-term assets of the company,” he told the media at a political talk on current issues in Ampangan in Seremban today.
Arul Kanda said political parties should debate on facts or policies and not dwell on personal attacks.
“For instance, PAS, when it has questions about 1MDB, they invite me to give an explanation.
“Do not be like DAP politicians who call me stupid, idiot and liar. I am sad with this kind of politicking,” he noted.
“The problem with the pro-opposition media is that they only want answers that they want to hear,” he said, adding that his answers were based on facts, documents and the public view.
