Is Malaysian politics attacking our patriotism?

This is a totally ridiculous claim to patriotism. It suggests that patriotism must be unified to vote in elections in Malaysia that are fought along deeply grooved racism and bigotry as old as time itself, where contesting political parties are legitimised by those the letter writer beseeches who have historically voted strongly along ethnocentric lines, where the people of Malaysia are historically prised apart by race and religion, in a political and historical space that challenges notions of patriotism at every level and in every sense that the body politics of the country simply disavows the possibility of patriotism in a wholly Malay-owned and run country where Islamism rules and nears fundamentalism to which other races resist as anathema to their sensibilities, where "harmony" between races is purely superficial, pretentious and farcical. You just cannot forge a "patriotism" or any kind of patriotism as a single unified emotion that has never existed, let alone at the eleventh hour to vote in elections that are always also farcical for their inherent fraudulence and grand pretense at democracy.
