GE14 | Schools nationwide will be closed on May 9 to facilitate the 14th general election.

Caretaker education minister Mahdzir Khalid on Twitter announced that this will be a special occasion holiday.

Schools will be used as polling centres on the election day.

This year's election is the first since 1999 to be held on a weekday, and the first since 1959 to be held on a Wednesday.

Advanced voting will be on May 5, while nomination day is on April 28.
