Former senior editor at Utusan Malaysia Ku Seman Ku Hussain has sarcastically suggested that BN pamphlets will be replacing newspapers following the dissolution of Parliament yesterday.

"From today until the general election, BN pamphlets will be sold at shops that sell newspapers.

"There is a newspaper that has temporarily been 'put to death' to make way for BN pamphlets to be purchased and read," he said in a Facebook post.

He did not mention which newspaper he was referring to.

Ku Seman, who had worked with Utusan Malaysia for 33 years, resigned in March 2016.

This was after his column about the RM2.6 billion in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank account was removed.

Najib claimed the money was a donation from a member of the Saudi royal family.

He denied wrongdoing or taking public funds for personal gain. Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali had also cleared him of wrongdoing.

Ku Seman, in his Facebook post today, also lamented the state of journalism in the country.

"Journalism? Journalist? There are none. A pamphlet does not need journalists or journalism.

"If certain newspapers are being abandoned and looked on with suspicion, do not blame the readers, as they can differentiate between a newspaper and a party pamphlet," he said.

The Election Commission has yet to announce the polling date pending the dissolution of all state assemblies in the country to allow for concurrent state and federal elections.

The federal election must be called within 60 days from Parliament's dissolution.
