GE14 | A PKR leader has hit back at an Umno minister's criticisms over its logo being used by Pakatan Harapan, saying it is a sign that the ruling party is afraid.

“How scared BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak must be, to the point a new party is stopped from using their own logo.

“How shaken a warrior is, to the point the face of a 93-year-old senior citizen cannot be shown in public nationwide,” said PKR vice president Nurul Izzah in a statement today.

She was responding to Umno's Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak, who yesterday accused Harapan of trying to “fool” Malays by having its parties use PKR's logo.

“The use of a single logo charts a first in the history of the opposition coalition...

“It is clear only Malay leadears of Umno-BN such as Salleh are 'fooled' when Harapan uses the PKR logo,” she said.

“What the Umno leadership really fears, is the rise of the people and the Malays towards Umno-BN's kleptocratic regime, when the general election comes.

“Salleh only speaks for himself. I believe Malays today have never been fooled by any sort of cheap propaganda and logos,” she added.

Creating a tsunami

Yesterday, Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that his party, which has been temporarily dissolved, will use PKR's logo for the coming election.

DAP has also agreed with the Harapan decision to contest under the common logo, a move made necessary after the coalition failed to get the Registrar of Societies to approve their registration.

Salleh in his blog had claimed Harapan had maximised the effect of its 'Chinese tsunami', and was now trying to get Malay support.

“Using the PKR logo as a common logo is a strategy to fool the Malays into believing that the pact is more Malay.

He added, should Harapan fail to get their ‘Malay tsunami’, they may "fare worse than during the 2013 general election, let alone win the 120 parliament seats that they are targeting," he had said.
