A new pay-per-entry park was launched in Kuala Lumpur last night, which surprisingly counts a lighting feature with the words "I love BN" as one of its permanent attractions.

The feature, which sits at the main entrance of the 99 Wonderland Park at Tasik Sri Murni, was an odd juxtaposition against most of the other attractions centred around animals or are structural features. 

The park was touted as a corporate social responsibility project by JL99 Group, which redeveloped an abandoned retention pond into a 23-acre recreational area.

According to media reports and JL99’s website, the developer was involved in several public housing projects, including the 1Razak mansion, and the PPA1M Metropolitan Kepong housing scheme for civil servants, in addition to other residential projects.

It was launched by Prime Minister and BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak last night. He did not address the audience, which organisers claimed amounted to 10,000 people.

The park sits in the Batu parliamentary constituency currently held by PKR MP Chua Tian Chang, popularly known as Tian Chua.

The lake was the centrepiece of the park. Other features include decorative LED lights that adorn almost the entire park, water fountains, boat rides, and animatronic dinosaurs.

The park also features a small zoo with deers, swans, peacocks, ostriches, pheasants, macaws and Patagonian maras, among its attractions.

The redevelopment cost RM18 million and took two years, while its upkeep would be about RM200,000 per month.

The park will be open to MyKad holders for free for one month. It is open from 6pm to 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and 6pm to 9.30pm on other days.

A check with the park operators revealed that the entry price after the one-month free period has yet to be determined.
