The Socio-Economic Development of Indian Community (Sedic) Unit has joined MACC's anti-corruption pledge and vowed to perform their duties with integrity.

The pledge was undertaken by officials from Sedic, the Prime Minister's Department (PMO) and NGOs which received grants from the agency.

MIC president Dr S Subramaniam said the pledge was important to ensure that all of Sedic's plans to help the Indian community were implemented properly.

"(We want) to establish clear and transparent governance in full to bring benefit to the Indian community," he said during the pledge ceremony last night.

Sedic is an agency under the PMO tasked with implementing Putrajaya's 10-year Indian Blueprint.

It was launched by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in April last year. Among other projects, Sedic is overseeing the loan scheme for low-income earners to participate in Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS1M) mutual trust fund.

MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad said he was grateful that Sedic and the NGOs approached the commission to join the pledge.

"Our role is to ensure that all plans are implemented efficiently and effectively. The one who benefits the most is the Indian community," he said.
