Suhakam to proceed with hearing, focus on missing trio

Suhakam will proceed with its public inquiry on the disappearance of Amri Che Mat, pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth Sitepu despite setbacks yesterday.

The hearing was abruptly halted yesterday after the police informed the commission that a man has been charged with kidnapping pastor Raymond Koh.

Koh was among the four individuals that were the subject of Suhakam's probe, which began last October. Thus far, the hearing had focused on the police probe on Koh's disappearance.

Public inquiry chairperson Mah Weng Kwai said the next hearing date was scheduled for Jan 22 and will look into the circumstances of Amri Che Mat's disappearance.
