AGC to object to another bid by Segamat voters
The Attorney-General’s Chambers indicated to the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today that it will be making a preliminary objection to another judicial review application filed by six voters from the Segamat parliamentary constituency.
The voters are seeking to quash the inclusion of 102 voters from a new army camp in the constituency into the supplementary electoral roll for the third quarter of 2017.
The six voters - Abu Bakar Ibrahim, Azmi Othman, Gangadharam Arumugam, Johari Ahmad, Khairudin Sagap and Mohd Rizal Mohd Sohot - named the Election Commission (EC) and EC registrar Shafie Taib as respondents.
Besides seeking to quash the entry of the 102 voters, they are also seeking a declaration that the entry of these voters is unconstitutional.
They are also seeking a stay of the certification and gazetting of the 102 disputed names...
