I wish to reply to the letter No supporting text for apostasy's punishment by Truth Seeker. Actually there is - lots of it. Surah An-Nisaa (Quran) 4:89: "The Disbelievers wish that ye should reject faith as they do. But take no allies from their ranks until they reject what Allah has forbidden. But if they then turn renegade, slay them wherever you find them".

Also Hadis Imam Bukhari: "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him". There are many more supporting text regarding apostasy to be found.

However, more importantly is to understand that all these verses are in context of war and not peace time. The Quran states that in peacetime, apostates can be forgiven and ignored. During war, there is no room for mercy especially if the apostate is a soldier and not a civilian. During wartime, meaning a defensive war that is within the constraints of strict Islamic rules of conduct, all apostates must be hunted and eliminated.

Which means no apostates can be punished in Malaysia as there is no war going on.
