The Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) will release its report on the Keadilan-sponsored public gathering on Kesas Highway, Shah Alam, at the end of the month.

Commissioner Anuar Zainal Abidin told malaysiakini today that the result of Suhakam's five-month inquiry into the 100,000 People's Gathering will also be presented to the other 11 members of the commission tomorrow.

"We will be handing in the report to the commission and from there we will decide what to do next," he said.

Asked about the findings or the recommendations in the report, Anuar said, "I can't comment on it before handing the report to the commission but I can say that all the allegations are supported by facts."

The report is the result of a three-member inquiry which convened on Nov 29 last year, chaired by Anuar and comprising former law lecturer Mehrun Siraj and Sabah Civil Service Commission chairperson Simon Sipaun.

Earlier today, Anuar and the two commissioners visited the site of the assembly, stating that it was to observe the location for themselves before handing in the report.

The report is the second from Suhakam following its annual report to Parliament in April this year.

On Nov 5 last year, Keadilan had organised a gathering at the house of a supporter in Jalan Kebun but the police set up roadblocks forcing the people to alight from their cars and walk towards the gathering point.

Participants later alleged police brutality as they were stopped with water cannons and riot police. Keadilan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, two opposition MP's, a 17 year old student and police officers testified as witnesses in the inquiry which is the first of its kind.

The police had also alleged brutality on the part of the participants claiming that an officer with the Special Branch had been assaulted after being identified.
