Eight Johor police personnel caught on video or photographs while allegedly engaging in minor forms of vice are still under internal investigations.

According to a parliamentary written reply, the Home Ministry said investigations were being conducted by Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS).

"Disciplinary action can be taken on them if there is a basis to the allegations," the ministry said.

This was stated in response to a question from Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng, who asked what actions had been taken against the police personnel, apart from transferring them.

The ministry's written reply did not indicate what further action has thus far been taken.

Lim was referring to a widely circulated video clip that depicted several alleged police personnel at an entertainment outlet and a photograph of a police personnel holding hands with a woman in short pants.

The Home Ministry also refuted Lim's suggestion that investigations were done in a lackadaisical manner.

"This is unfounded. Investigations are ongoing (by the) police... and it has been referred to the prosecutors.

"Anyone can challenge the decision in court if they are not happy with police investigations or the prosecutor's decision," the ministry said.
