Commotion during FT ministry's Deepavali cash handout session

A minor commotion broke out during a Deepavali event hosted by the Federal Territories Ministry when the underprivileged, particularly senior citizens started to push their way to receive a RM100 cash handout.

The incident happened as "purple packets" were distributed by Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Hundreds of people - including people in wheelchairs and those with children - started to push each other in their eagerness to collect the cash. Security personnel and enforcement officers struggled to control the melee.
