Liberal Malaysian fails to understand that modern-day imperialism rarely requires direct colonial rule.

Instead it generally relies on having a compliant regime in charge which will allow access and exploitation of their land, resources, labour and markets by corporations of the imperial power, and in the modern day, also to make them a part of the global dollar economy.

If the US and British imperialist win in Iraq, they will be emboldened to invade, instigate violent or peaceful coups or Ukraine and Georgia-style colour-coded revolutions in countries which don't toe their line or don't serve their economic or geo-strategic interests - countries like Iran, Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba and China, for example.

Just recall what Pat Robertson said about assassinating President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and the US imperialists have tried to topple him by supporting the dissident rich and middle-class elements but fortunately Chavez has the strong support of the poor in Venezuela and he wants to give them a better life by opposing US-imperialist neo-liberal policies through nationalisation
of Venezuela's key industries and resources, and giving the wealth so gained to the Venezuelan people, rather than having it siphoned off to the United States and other imperialist countries.

Indeed, the USA Today, CNN, Gallup poll shows that the people surveyed are glad to see Saddam Hussein gone but their opposition is increasing and that shows that the US imperialists invaded Iraq under the pretext of getting rid of Saddam but are there for other reasons, including to extend their hegemony over the Middle East and to gain control its resources.

Well, they certainly aren't there for the benefit of the Iraqi people, despite their lies and propaganda.

The US-imperialists managed to leverage dissatisfaction of the Shia majority and Kurds with the dominance of the Sunni minority, though it's not working all that well for them, since Iraqis of all stripes are patriotic and oppose their continued occupation.

For now, the Sunnis are the most organised and militant but I'm sure if this continues, the Shias will fight the invaders as well, as sentiments expressed in the poll show.

Few will adopt the opportunistic course Liberal Malaysian suggested of taking the billions of dollars from the US imperialists, which is akin to selling their souls to the devil.

That shows that Iraqi's are more principled than people like Liberal Malaysian.

Well, the US imperialists are not going to leave unless they are forced to, or succeed in putting a compliant, puppet regime in charge, so I stand by my support for the Iraqi resistance, Sunni or otherwise, who are the only effective militant force opposing the US imperialists.

I also stand by my position of supporting anti-war forces in the United States, as the American people are not the enemy, the vested economic and Zionist interests are the enemy.

Also, Liberal Malaysian fails to distinguish between guerillas and terrorists, though sometimes the actions of the two may overlap in the real world.

Terrorism are acts perpetrated against innocent civilians in the hope of frightening them into submission, while guerilla war are acts of violence against the military and state forces of the oppressor and their collaborators.

British author Felix Greene characterised guerilla was as the 'war of the flea', in his book of the same name, meaning that it is a form of war waged by a materially weaker force which can't afford to attack the oppressors head on and hope to win, so it resorts to targetted attacks against the enemy at its most vulnerable points, with the effect that it demoralises the enemy.

Despite all their overwhelming military power and high-tech weaponry, the foot-soldier is still human and that is where human will can defeat human will, at it's here that wars have been won.

As the poll shows, American soldiers know they are not wanted there and if you care to read antiwar.com, you'll see that an increasing number of American people believe they should not be there, and that they've been lied to about weapons of mass destruction, etc.

Finally, I wish Liberal Malaysian does not hide behind a pseudonym, though I suspect, he's a self-styled Malaysian neo-conservative who supported the invasion of Iraq.

By giving my actual name, I'm exposing myself to being denied entry into some countries, though fortunately, that hasn't happened so far but if it does due to my views, then so be it.
