The developer of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project has confirmed that it has received a proposal to build a station in Forest City, Johor.

MyHSR Corporation CEO Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal said the matter was still under consideration.

"It is currently being weighed by the Land Public Transport Commission (Spad). No decision has been made yet.

"For now, we have seven stations in Malaysia and one station in Singapore. The current plan is to focus on these stations," he said.

Mohd Nur Ismal spoke to reporters after a ceremony today to unveil the design concepts for the seven HSR stations in Malaysia.

Similarly, Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai, when approached after the function, said the proposal was still under consideration.

"It is too early to discuss now, it is not confirmed yet," he said.

Previously, the New Straits Times reported that developers Country Garden Holdings have been lobbying authorities for a station to be built within Forest City.

Forest City is a residential development consisting of manmade islands in Southern Johor. The project is mostly aimed at foreign buyers.

With groundwork slated to begin next year, the HSR is expected to be completed in 2026 with an estimated price tag of RM40 billion.
