The National Farmers Association (Nafas) heaped praises on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today, stating that it does not forget the various contributions he has made for farmers and fishermen alike.

Nafas chairperson Saipolbahari Suib, in his speech at the National Farmers and Fishermen's Day in Serdang, listed down the contributions, among them, how they have received various subsidies for their farms, diesel and petrol, as well as monthly living allowances.

"We get this and that, these are all from the government, the government under Najib's leadership.

"We will never forget all these, Datuk Seri," said Saipolbahari, who is also Umno assemblyperson for the Bukit Naning state seat under Muar, Johor. 

Saipolbahari said farmers and fishermen alike were ready to be "used" by Najib.

"Kerahlah (use) us, we are ready to give the best for your leadership.

"We have received so much, we will always remember your contributions," added Saipolbahari.

Najib, in his speech later, addressed Saipolbahari's proclamations and said that he would "give a signal" when the time comes.

The prime minister also said he never forgets to pull in investments for the country during his official trips overseas.

"(But) the opposition accuses me, creates slander that I had sold the country's sovereignty during my recent trip to China.

"But isn't it Malaysians who will benefit when we receive investments up to RM144 billion for the country?"

Najib also pointed out how the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) would benefit farmers and fishermen alike, as the rail system would enable them to export their goods.

"If logistics are more efficient, we can ensure that the incomes of farmers and fishermen will also increase, instead of middlemen.

"But they (the opposition) don't talk about all these benefits," he said.

Najib’s visit to China in November last year resulted in the signing of 14 agreements worth RM144 billion between Malaysian and Chinese companies.

The ECRL was one of the projects inked. The ECRL will connect Kuala Lumpur and urban centres in the East Coast economic region, including Mentakab, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu and Tumpat.
