Pakatan Harapan expects tens of thousands to attend its Malaysia Day celebration in Alor Setar, which will feature food and games, a convoy of high-powered motorcycles and a drone demonstration.
Amanah secretary-general Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir said the celebration will start with games such as sepak takraw and traditional kites at 3pm at Dataran Stargate, followed by a kenduri and political speeches until 11pm.
“This is a mega programme. We are expecting 20,000 people from all strata of society.
“I invite all Malaysians to come in droves. Fill up the northbound trains, the express buses, all the planes bound for Penang and Alor Setar. We shall gather,” he told a press conference following the weekly meeting of Harapan component party secretaries...

The celebrations will be hosted by Amanah on Sept 15, the eve of Malaysia Day, when the party is due to hold its national congress in the capital, said Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah.
Top leaders Mohamad Sabu, Muhyiddin Yassin, Lim Guan Eng, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be giving speeches during the celebration, in addition to Harapan representatives from Sabah and Sarawak.
Similar celebrations are likely to be held in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching on a date to be determined by the coalition’s presidential council.
Earlier in the press conference, Saifuddin announced that the coalition has resolved almost all seat negotiations for the upcoming election, and would form parliamentary “liaison committees” by the end of the month.
