Kelantan PKR's decision to appoint a "coordinator" for the state PKR Youth is tantamount to interference, PKR Youth secretary Chang Lih Kang said today.
"This is not appropriate and is not in accordance with the party constitution.
"Our organisation does not accommodate a state PKR Youth coordinator. It does not exist in any state.
"The state PKR Youth chief is the sole representative of the members," Chang told Malaysiakini.
He said this when asked to respond to Kelantan PKR chief Ab Aziz Ab Kadir's decision to appoint Dr Mohd Hafidz Rezal Amran as the state's PKR Youth "coordinator".
Mohd Hafidz was removed as Kelantan PKR Youth chief on Aug 28 by PKR Youth head Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who appointed Mohd Khairul Amin Abd Rahman as the replacement.
Ab Aziz said he did not recognise Mohd Khairul Azmin as the new Kelantan PKR Youth head and urged members in the state to work with the new "coordinator" Mohd Hafidz.
'Everything above board'
Chang said PKR Youth only recognised Mohd Khairul Amin as the Kelantan PKR Youth leader and suggested that Ab Aziz gives Hafidz Rezal a new designation to avoid confusion.
"I would suggest changing 'coordinator' to something like 'Youth bureau chief'," he said.
On his part, Nik Nazmi refuted Ab Aziz's allegation that the state PKR Youth branches and the state PKR head were not consulted on Khairul Amin's appointment.
"I did consult him. Everything was done in accordance with party regulations," Nik Nazmi told Malaysiakini.
Both Ab Aziz and Hafidz Rezal are facing an internal revolt over their alleged support for cooperation between PKR and PAS.
