Two unidentified men shot and wounded the driver of former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail at the victim's house in Ampang Perdana this morning.

In the 8.30am incident, the men reportedly approached the victim on the pretext of asking for directions before shooting him in the leg.

According to China Press, police are investigating the motive and attempting to identify the assailants.

Quoting sources, the report said it appeared that the assailants had wanted to send a warning, and therefore shot the victim in the leg.

The report, which identified the victim only as Mustafa, said he had been working as a driver for Gani since January this year.

It was reported that at the time of the incident, the front gate was opened as the victim was about to leave the house.

The assailants had fled the scene on a motorbike.
