PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has insisted that the discussions between PKR and PAS do not involve Pakatan Harapan at all.

He also insisted that the discussions were not a result of his own initiative and that he is merely representing his party.

“I must reiterate again, including to Malaysiakini, where is Malaysiakini? They keep on saying that it is my initiative (to discuss with PAS).

“It is not my personal initiative. It was the decision taken by the party. I am just representing the party.

“This negotiation and discussion is only between PKR and PAS, nothing to do with Pakatan Harapan,” he said to reporters at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today.

It was reported that PKR’s political bureau decided last week to give PKR president Wan Azizah and Azmin a chance to talk to PAS to possibly pursue a political pact.

PKR parliamentary whip Johari Abdul told Malaysiakini that Azmin had appealed to the politburo to give the party a chance to negotiate with PAS.

Azmin, who is also the Selangor menteri besar, has since been engaging PAS in informal talks.

This is despite PAS having severed political ties with PKR, following the green light given at the party’s muktamar in April.

Azmin also said that his party is open to negotiations with any party, except “Umno, BN and Utusan”.

When asked about Selangor PAS indicating that they would contest at his parliamentary seat in Gombak, he said it is normal for political parties to contest at any seat.

“This can be resolved in the form of discussions,” he said.
