Universiti Selangor (Unisel) today said it was "affected" by the MACC's raid at its campus on Aug 22. 

Education and Social Sciences Faculty dean Prof Mohd Zaidi Mohd Hajazi said although Unisel was used to the "pressure and challenges" imposed by outsiders, as a private university and one that falls under state administration, this was different as the pressure was from an enforcement authority.

"This (the raid) put us under the media spotlight.

"Any form of pressure imposed on the university will definitely impact the students, especially since they are going to sit for their examinations soon. That is why I would like to appeal to parties out there, please think of the students' future," Mohd Zaidi told a press conference at the Unisel campus in Shah Alam today.

He did not discount the possibility that Unisel came under scrutiny as "outsiders" were trying to get at the Selangor state government.

"Some of the challenges have nothing to do with Unisel, but it received the heat anyway," he said.

Mohd Zaidi, however, refused to say who he meant by "outsiders."

He expressed hope that the university will be spared from more "disturbance" and given the chance to excel academically.
