Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said today all aspects of the Approved Permits (AP) policy with regard to the National Automotive Policy are still being studied by the government.

"We are now studying all aspects of the AP policy and this is linked to the National Automotive Policy," he was quoted as saying by Bernama in Malacca.

He was asked to comment on a newspaper report that the government is expected to make a major change to the AP policy when unveiling the National Automotive Policy end of this month.

Implications

The report, quoting automotive industry and government sources, said the new measures to be introduced would put a stop to the privileges and easy profit made by AP holders who have the rights to import certain car models.

"Wait for us to study first," Najib said, adding the AP issue should not be handled rashly owing to the many implications which needed thorough consideration.
