I echo the questions K Temoc asks in the letter Questions for our man in Putrajaya . I would also suggest that the government acts on anything and everything that smells of corruption. Let me illustrate what I mean with an example.

A few days ago, a national paper reported an interesting story . Apparently a Tan Sri had been cheated of RM3 million by a lawyer. The lawyer had claimed to be able to secure a tender for construction works at Bank Negara and the Tan Sri had handed the money over but failed to secure any jobs.

Certainly, the police should investigate the lawyer for cheating and according to the report they had done just that. However, in my opinion, the Tan Sri should also have been arrested because he had handed over a sum of money to secure a government job.

Isn't that a clear case of corruption?

Inaction against the Tan Sri will only confirm that corrupt practices are the norm and that the police will only act if an extraordinary thing, in this case cheating, is carried out.
