If Pos Malaysia & Services Holdings Bhd chairperson Adam Kadir has his way, post offices in the country will be fitted with closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs).

Pos Malaysia, he said, is considering the move to install the cameras in all its 670 post offices throughout the country.

According to Bernama, Adam told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today that the idea is to boost security following a robbery at the Subang Jaya post office on May 30.

Easier to probe

"We have guards at all post offices but they cannot stop customers from coming in. With the CCTVs in place we can monitor the situation and it would also make it easier for investigations if anything goes wrong," he said.

In the hold-up at the Subang Jaya outlet, robbers escaped with RM91,000 and to date the culprits have yet to be apprehended.

Asked when the CCTVs would be installed, Adam said it would be done in stages but would begin "as soon as possible."
