I was surprised to read about the judgment of the Sabah High Court on ex-chief minister Osu Sukam's RM7 million gambling debt.

I wonder whether this would be a test case, in that Malaysians who lose many hands in a foreign casinos can now quickly return home, safe in the knowledge that they will be immune from being made to pay up.

But what about the other side of the coin? If the whole idea of gambling is against the principles of our Rukunegara, I wonder what the ex-CM would have done if he had won the RM7 million instead.

Would he have given it back to the casino, saying 'No thanks, I subscribe to the Rukunegara?

We should make up our minds, we can't have it both ways.
