Suspended Mara chairperson Annuar Musa said he was not informed about testifying before the Mara audit committee today.

"I have no idea. I was never called nor informed. You need to ask Mara," he said when contacted.

He said this in response to Mara interim chairperson Yusof Yacob who yesterday said Annuar would be called before the Mara audit committee today.

However, he noted that the matter was up to the audit committee to decide and that it may have to hold a long meeting.

Yusof, when contacted today, said Annuar would not be called yet.

"Annuar Musa has not been called (before the Mara audit committee) as this is only (the Mara audit committee's) first meeting and it is uncertain how many more there will be.

"Let us do the work, we don't need publicity... I don't know when Annuar Musa will be called. It will be up to the committee to summon him," he said.

Yusof added that he is not involved in the meeting and declined to reveal who are on the committee.

Some 20 media personnel had gathered as early as 7am at the Mara headquarters in anticipation of Annuar being summoned.

It is believed that the meeting commenced at 2.30pm today.

Meanwhile, an official from Mara’s communications department, Ahmad Soffian Mohd Shariff, said Mara would not be issuing any statement in relation to the meeting.

“We will not be issuing any official statement today. Mara will contact the media if there is any formal statement that will be issued,” he said.

Annuar, who is also Umno information chief, was suspended as Mara chairperson on Jan 31.

The suspension followed a revelation by Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim that Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mara, had sponsored the cash-strapped Kelantan Football Association, of which Annuar was also the president at that time.

Both Tunku Ismail and Annuar are election candidates for the Football Association of Malaysia presidency.
