PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) held a closed-door meeting in Bangsar without the presence of its respective presidents or Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Bersatu was represented by its deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, who chaired the meeting.

Whereas PAS was represented by its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, and vice-president Idris Ahmad.

It is believed that the meeting, which started around 11am, lasted for about two hours.

In a joint statement this evening, Mukhriz and Tuan Ibrahim said the two parties have agreed to form a joint technical committee to follow up on the outcome of today's meeting.

"The meeting today is to fine tune a draft framework on political understanding between PAS and Bersatu in facing the 14th general elections.

"There have been several positive stances made in the effort to seal the cooperation between both parties," they said.

They added that the framework will be fine tuned further by the top leadership of both parties and will be signed by their respective presidents soon.

Muhyiddin had previously met PAS deputy spiritual leader Ahmad Yakob in Kelantan last week.

Bersatu has been looking to convince PAS to compete in straight fights against BN in the next elections.

However, PAS has been in disagreement with Bersatu's allies in Pakatan Harapan, namely Amanah and DAP.

Similarly, Mahathir has been butting heads with PAS, saying the opposition did not need them.
