Wisma Putra has recalled a Malaysian diplomat after he allegedly posted insulting remarks linked to the recent passing of the former Sarawak Chief Minister, the late Adenan Satem, reports The Star.

This was confirmed by chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa, in a reply to a tweet from the Puchong Umno Youth Twitter account.

“The officer has been ordered to return to KL immediately for disciplinary action,” Ali tweeted.

The diplomatic service officer, stationed in the Philippines, allegedly posted the comments on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s Facebook post about Adenan's passing.

The English daily reported that Deputy Foreign Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican said he was aware of the matter, though could not elaborate as he was not acquainted with the exact details.

“I cannot comment further as I do not have all the information,” Reezal said.

The diplomat joined several others who faced action for the same offence.

Previously a 36-year-old man has been arrested in Kuantan, Pahang on Jan 12, in connection with a Facebook posting on the late CM.

While Kuching police have picked-up a 57-year-old man for allegedly posting defamatory remarks about the deceased BN leader, on the same day.

Adenan, who held the chief minister's post for almost three years, died at the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan from complications arising from heart disease at 1.24pm Thursday, 16 days short of his 73rd birthday. His remains was interred in a state funeral yesterday.
