The four boys who went missing in the dense jungles of Fraser's Hill, Pahang, since Monday were rescued today.

A Bernama report stated that the four, aged between nine and 16, were found at 11.40am.

According to police, they were airlifted by an helicopter from the spot they were found to an open area. They were then taken in an ambulance to a nearby clinic.

Brothers (photo) Chew Ser Yee, 16, Chew Ser Han, 14, and Chew Ser Meng, 12, from Perak and their Singaporean cousin Jeremy Tio, 9 looked exhausted when stretchered into the clinic.

Their parents and Pahang police chief Ramli Yusuff were present.

The Sultan of Pahang, who had gone to Fraser's Hill to check on the search and rescue operations, arrived at the clinic shortly after.

More than 100 people were involved in the search and rescue operations. Yesterday, helicopters and sniffer dogs were also deployed to track the boys who went missing during a trek in the popular tourist hill station.

Armed with only a map and some water, the boys started along a well-known hiking trail at noon on Monday. They were to be picked up later by their uncle at a pre-arranged spot but never turned up.

The only clues to their whereabouts were an empty water bottle near the trail and some footprints on a separate but closed track diverging off the boys' original path, media reports said.

The incident has received widespread media coverage.
