Former BSI banker Yeo Jiawei, who was sentenced to 30 months in jail for covering up alleged money laundering and regulatory offences linked to 1MDB, will appeal his conviction.
Bloomberg quoted Yeo's lawyer Philip Fong confirming the planned appeal but declined further comment.
Yeo's sentencing on Dec 22 was over his attempt to tamper with witnesses while Singapore authorities were investigating BSI bank's involvement int he 1MDB scandal.
He faces a separate trial, expected in April, for the offences of money laundering, cheating and forgery in facilitating the transfer of 1MDB-linked funds.
Yeo was the third BSI banker to have been convicted following Singapore's probe into the 1MDB matter.
In November, Yak Yew Che was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison and a fine for forgery and failing to disclose suspicious transactions related to Malaysian billionaire Jho Low, a key figure in the 1MDB scandal.
Another banker, Yvonne Seah Yew Foong, was sentenced to two weeks in prison for similar offences.
According to Bloomberg, both have decided not to appeal their cases.
