Three activists were questioned by police today over funding by the Open Society Foundations (OSF).

The trio were Persatuan Kesedaran Komuniti Selangor staff Pook Li Yoon and Leong Mei Yun and Penang Institute fellow Wong Chin Huat.

They were summoned to Bukit Aman police headquarters where they were quizzed for some three hours.

Pook and Leong were seen entering Bukit Aman at around 2pm while Wong came an hour later.

Both of them left at about 6pm and were greeted by around 20 supporters.

Empower's lawyer Honey Tan said her clients were being investigated under Section 124C of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

"Empower has done nothing but to ensure women are involved in decision-making. (The police action) is only to pressure women human rights defenders," he said.

Empower president A Janarthani also criticised the three-hour long questioning.

"What we do is for democracy, society and education those who work with us.

"This attempt to threaten and intimidate for the work we do is going overboard," she said.

Police on Nov 28 raided Empower's office. The questioning today was a follow-up to the raid.
